About Tidbit

At Tidbit, we’re the new dog on the block here to help you to train your dog easily and efficiently. We like making sure our packaging knows how to sit and stay with you well after the treats have gone with a reusable clicker training tool built into the box, so you and your dog can think outside of it!

Problem

The goal of Tidbits is to create an easier, more informative, and sustainable line of training treats with knowledge and tools built right into the package.

Solution

The packaging uses sustainable materials combined with charming visuals and easily accessible information to make obedience training greener and convenient.

Initial Problem

As a new dog owner, I was on the hunt for a way to connect and coach my pup that didn’t ooze meat fillers and tummy-distressing additives. I kept running into over-packaged confusing treats that were bulky and hard to train with. I had an issue specifically with the packaging of buddy biscuits even though it seemed like a great product. I noticed that The cardboard texture actually printed on the box in an effort to make it look more sustainable than it was. There was also the issue of the plastic bag on the inside that made the box almost obsolete after opening.

So… What’s Clicker Training?

Clicker training is a positive reinforcement animal training method. The tactic uses conditioned reinforces, which a trainer can deliver more quickly and more precisely usually with a treat or other positive reward to associate the task with a reward.

Pain Points

After talking to other dog owners looking to train their pups, I discovered we had a few common concerns.

First, we wanted to make sure we understood the ingredients we are feeding to our pets, especially with the amount of treats clicker training requires.

Secondly, we want a treat that’s extremely portable and easy to access for consistent reward association.

And lastly, our dog owners wanted something sustainable. Piling up boxes and boxes of treats isn’t rewarding for anybody!

Packaging & Branding System

Reflection

Tidbit is such a fun project. Inspired by my dog August and his sensitive belly, I loved creating the whimsical icons used throughout the branding. I certainly wish I had this product back when I first adopted my pets, training is an excellent way to bond with your animal. If I were to expand this project, I would design packing for the beeswax-wrapped refills meant to sustain the Tidbits box for years to come.
